Keeneland work event

Updated: Nov 13

In this article, we would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of our recent experiences working at Keeneland in Kentucky.

Thank you for taking the time to read our blog.

God Bless you.

A Month of Growth, Fellowship, and Learning with OneWay Restoration Ministries at Keeneland

From October 4th to October 26th, OneWay Restoration Ministries had the incredible opportunity to work and learn at the renowned Keeneland racetrack. This experience wasn’t just about the job; it was a time of deep fellowship, personal growth, and skill-building, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.

Work Development and Job Skills Training

OneWay Restoration Ministries' mission is about transformation, extending into skill development and service. During our time at Keeneland, participants were immersed in a hands-on work development program, including work in the commercial kitchen. They learned essential job skills such as food preparation, kitchen cleanup, teamwork, and customer service, gaining valuable experience in a professional environment. Working in Keeneland's commercial kitchen provided a unique and practical learning experience, helping participants develop skills they can take into other workplaces.

Networking Through Fellowship with Other Restoration Ministries

This month wasn’t just about work; it was also a time for building relationships with like-minded organizations. Throughout the three weeks at Keeneland, OneWay participants had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other restoration ministries. Through these fellowship services, participants were able to connect, share experiences, and strengthen bonds within the larger restoration network. This support and sense of community are invaluable to the journey of restoration and faith, and this month served as a reminder that no one walks this path alone.

Nights Around the Campfire: A Time for Reflection

Evenings provided time for relaxation, fellowship, and reflection. Gathered around the campfire, participants enjoyed eating together, sharing stories, and roasting marshmallows. These fireside moments became a cherished part of each day, offering a space for everyone to unwind, share their journeys, and build deeper connections with one another.

AdventureServe Ministries:

OneWay Restoration Ministries is deeply grateful to AdventureServe Ministries for opening up their camp to house our participants. Staying at the camp allowed everyone to have a welcoming place to return to each evening, where they could rest and recharge for the next day's work. It also provided the unique experience of living together in community, strengthening friendships and fostering a sense of unity.

Celebrating Life and Milestones

October brought an extra layer of celebration to the trip, as 13 participants had birthdays during this time! On October 14th, the whole group came together to celebrate these October birthdays, making it a day full of joy, laughter, and a shared appreciation for life. The celebration highlighted the supportive and close-knit nature of our community, as everyone took the time to recognize and celebrate one another.

A Time of Growth and Gratitude

Looking back on these three weeks, it’s clear that this experience at Keeneland was about more than just work. It was a journey of growth, fellowship, and shared memories that will last a lifetime. Through learning new skills, forming connections, and celebrating together, each participant left Keeneland with a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.

As we move forward, OneWay Restoration Ministries is excited to continue our work in helping individuals grow, restore, and find new paths forward in life. Thank you for your support and for being part of this journey with us.
